Thursday, (9/11/2017) Batam city island had a bad weather hit by heavy rain and strong winds. Even so in Singapore’s Changi airport. Thanks to the proximity of Batam and runway quality comparable with Singapore, the emergency landing can be done successfully.
Although flooding and clogging of drainage happened at various regions in Batam city island, such issues did not avail in Hang nadim airport.
Due to the bad weather the two planes could not land at Changi. They divert to Hang Nadim, Batam. “Yes, it was late afternoon,” said Hang Nadim Operational General Manager Batam Suwarso confirmed the incident on Thursday (9/11).
He said the foreign plane that landed the emergency that Day was Singapore Airlines type Boeing B 777-312 ER with Call sign 9v-SWE, with flight number SQ 631 route Tokyo to Changi, Singapore. Then Tiger Air Airbus A 320 call sign 9v TRA with no TGW 979 flight, with Hongkong to Changi flight route.
These two aircraft had circled around Singapore for more than 15 minutes. However, due to depleted fuell and unfavorable weather, the two aircraft chose emergency landing in Hang Nadim airport. “The two aircraft are refueling, Singapore Airline refuel as much as 20,240 liters, while Tiger Air 6000 liters,” he said. Suwarso revealed, Singapore Changi Airport was declared closed twice, due to bad weather. Airline Singapore Airlines Airline had departed, when the airport Changi opened at 16:47. “While Tiger has not, because close (closed, red) back. Here we are checking again, “said Suwarso when contacted at 18.00. Due to this bad weather, also impacted the local flight on route to Hang Nadim airport. A total of three return planes were forced to circle in the sky of Batam, before landing. Three aircraft that is Lion Air JT 378 from Cengkareng of West Java province.
Jakarta’s flight should land at 15:20. “Just landed at 15:47,” said Suwarso. Then the Citilink CTV 935 from Pekanbaru city, with 15.50 landing schedule. Due to bad weather, just landed at 16:10. The last aircraft, Garuda Indonesia GA 154 from Jakarta, scheduled landing `15.55. But it just landed at 16:18. “For departure there is no problem, everything is smooth,” Suwarso concluded.
