The Karimun Regency is located in the Riau Islands Province, Indonesia. Besides the main island of Great Karimun, the regency also includes the island of Kundur and a number of smaller islands. The Regency is divided into nine districts (kecamatan) – tabulated below with their 2010 Census population. Many residents of Batam city island is also originating from this regency.
On 12 October, Karimun District will be a 18 years old (October 12, 1999-12 October 2017). To celebrate the anniversary of Karimun District, Karimun Regency plans to celebrate for 5 days from 12, 13, 14, 16 and 17 October 2017. The 18th anniversary of Karimun Regency commemorated by the ceremony on October 12 morning started at 07.30 WIB at the Coastal Area.
Then still on the same day continued with a thanksgiving event at the official house of Regent Karimun around 08.45 WIB. At 13.00, the inauguration of Tuberculosis drug-resistant unit building of RSUD Muhammad Sani. Friday (13/10/2017) there is only one event that is scheduled around 19:30 pm friendly night and dinner with participants Dangkong Dance Festival at the home office regent.
On the weekend or Saturday (14/10/2017), a number of events held in the Coastal Area began with a cultural parade Nusantara, parade floats, snacks and local food bazaar, starting at around 14:00 pm.

The 18th Anniversary of Karimun District will be held again on Monday (16/10/2017) in the form of the formation of Karimun District Children’s Forum held with the commemoration of National Children’s Day (HAN) 2017 starting at 11.00 WIB, held at the National Building.
The celebration of Karimun Regency’s 18th anniversary celebration closed with tablig akbar and dhikr at the regent’s residence Karimun, Tuesday (17/10/2017) night starting at around 19:30 pm. Although the news of the anniversary party will be celebrated on Thursday (12/10/2017) but a number of public place point in Tanjungbalai Karimun has started to clean up like the installation of banners and billboards in public space.
