Starting this November 17, national air transportation company, Garuda Indonesia, will increase the frequency of flight Batam-Jakarta route. Garuda previously flew 35 times a week, and now 40 times. General Manager of Garuda Indonesia Kepri, Setya Budhi said the addition of the flying frequency, in addition to being part of the services provided by Garuda to the public, also to support Batam tourism from the side of air transportation.
“Our traffic is growing, so our cargoes grow 35 percent but from direct flight has reached 95 percent, that is good enough,” said Budhi to Tribun Batam on Monday (13/11) at Grands i-Hotel.
Later on every 2 to 3 hours there will be flights from Garuda. From the beginning only five times a day to a predetermined schedule, now six times a day. The additional flight frequency of Garuda from Batam-Jakarta is operated every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
“We do not have daily, Thursday and Saturday so we flew first at 7.55, then 8.55, 11.40, 16.40 and 19.05.Now we added at 14:35,” he said. For the addition of the iron bird’s flight route from Batam-Jakarta, said Budhi, there will be ceremonial activities. Garuda’s top officials will invite figures from Garuda head office and Batam City Government.
“So far the response is quite good, it has reached 50 percent,” said Budhi. He explained, with seat on sale with more than 76 percent, Batam is a potential market for Garuda Indonesia. By adding frequencies, it hopes to reach larger markets, both for passengers and for potential cargo.
“This is also to provide a choice of flying hours for the community,” he said. With the addition of Jakarta-Batam flight, Garuda Indonesia serves 54 flights from and to Batam, namely Batam-Jakarta 40 times a week, Batam-Medan seven times a week, and Batam-Lampung seven times a week.
