A total of 72 people became victims of the collapsed balcony of the 1st floor of Indonesia Stock Exchange Building (BEI), Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. Most of them are university students in Palembang who are visiting. Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono said that the incident happened at around 11:55 pm.
“There was a visit of some students at BEI, suddenly heard a loud voice from inside Tower II,” said Argo at the location on Monday (15/1/2018). Hearing the sound of the thump, a number of security officers went directly to the location. Sure enough, the balcony of BEI was in a state of collapse with the victims who participated crushed ruins. “After being checked correctly it was found that the 1st floor of Tower II collapsed and the witness saw several victims have already fallen,” he explained. The building alarm went off and all residents and workers at the site were evacuated out of the building. While security forces rush to police and medical contacts. “We contacted the BEI regarding blueprint building, maintenance data, and quality control as well as dividing the investigation tasks and collecting the crime scene results,” Argo emphasized.
