The demand for cigarettes in Batam is very high. According to Batam Agency (BP) data, Batam residents can consume 6 billion cigarettes per year. If the population is assumed Batam reaches Rp 1 million, then the need for cigarettes reaches 16 sticks per day. Locally called as ‘Rokok’, the Indonesian made cigarette is available anywhere and everywhere with loosely regulated that allow anyone without age restriction can buy it.
Efforts to establish a better maritime connectivity continue to be executed by Batam Enterprises (BP) in cooperation with the Port Authority of Port Authority (KSOP) Batam.
