Batam-City island industrial scene will rise again from the ashes. Business giant Gama Corporation (Gama Corp) plans to build a biofuel plant in Kabil Industrial Estate, northeast shore of Batam. Through its subsidiary PT Energi Unggul Persada, Gama Corp will invest about Rp 1 trillion as a form of seriousness to build agro-based palm oil industry. Batam is still attractive for industry despite of Batam Investment Agency (BP) effort to pivoting into tourism sector.

Gama Corporation with wide range of portfolios, was very successful in building the tallest building in Indonesia which was first operated in 2016.

The smart man at BP Batam continues to convince the company to immediately realize its investment plan.

Gama Corporation is not a new player in palm oil industry. Gama Corp actually owned by the Ganda and Martua Sitorus (Hence ‘GaMa’), through their affiliates Wilmar international, which is one of the biggest  palm oil producer in the world. However, Gama corp stick their nails in the property sector and derivatives of palm oil refinery all the way to cement factories.

After acquiring the Bahama Group’s Sentosa Residences through Gamaland with a dowry of Rp 600 billion, they also invest heavily in Sumatera mainland. They will convert it into an apartment project titled Arandra Residences with a project value of Rp 3.5 trillion. Indeed, Gamaland Group’s contact with the property business has started since 2006. They built Nirvana Residences in Pekanbaru, Riau city, as industrial growth is entering the honeymoon period. According to Director Gamaland Dicky Iksan Soetikno, since then Gamaland began active guerrilla search for existing dormant projects to be acquired and also glance at potential land to be developed into superior properties. Five years later, together with PT Ciputra Surya Tbk, they plan to revitalize PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) II land in Tanjung Morawa through a joint venture scheme.

The Sitorus brothers also have various type of property that is the asset of the business empire such as the industrial and warehouses of Bekasi Industrial Estate, Bojonegara Industrial Estate, Lamhotma Industrial Estate, Sicanang Industrial Estate, and Bizpark Commercial Estate. Following such hospitality as JW Marriott Medan, Amarterra M Gallery Nusa Dua Bali by Sofitel, and later The Westin jakarta. While housing and apartments include Nirvana Residences Pekanbaru, Nirvana D’Villas Pekanbaru, CitraLand Pekanbaru, CitraLand Bagya City Medan, and apartments Koleza 9. For the shopping center, they will build CitraLand Bagya City Medan, and Click Square Bandung.
